A family septic company that does what it says

Chris Harmon started Carolina Septic in North Augusta in 2009. Sixteen years later we're still here, still local, and still doing the hard jobs other contractors turn down.

Who we are

Carolina Septic is a family-run septic contractor based in North Augusta, South Carolina, serving the CSRA since 2009. We install, pump, repair and inspect septic systems for homeowners, builders, developers and restaurants on both sides of the Savannah River. We hold Tier 3 certification in South Carolina and Georgia, the level that permits engineered system work.

What we're actually good at

Plenty of companies will pump a tank. Fewer will tell you the tank isn't your problem. Our work skews toward installation and the difficult end of the business: engineered systems on lots that failed a soil evaluation, drainfield replacements where somebody else has been pumping the same tank every six months for three years, permits on properties with complications.

That's not an accident. It's where the Tier 3 licence matters, and it's the work we've built the business around.

Both sides of the river

Being properly credentialed in South Carolina and Georgia is less common than it sounds. The two states run entirely separate systems: South Carolina permits at state level through SCDES with a tiered installer licence, Georgia permits at county level and does not recognise out-of-state certifications at all. Holding both means we don't have to turn down work at the county line or hand you off to somebody else.

How we work

  • Free site visit before we quote. We'd rather spend an hour looking than give you a number we have to change later.
  • The scope you approve is the scope you get. If we find something genuinely unexpected in the ground, we stop and talk to you before spending your money.
  • We tell you when the answer is no. If your drainfield is fifteen years old and clogged, patching it means doing the job again in two years. We'll say so, even when the bigger job is the one we'd rather sell.
  • We handle the permits. You're not chasing SCDES or a county health department. That's our job.
  • Written records. Date, tank size, what we did, what we found. It matters more than people realise, particularly when you go to sell.

Chris's own words on what makes us different

Asked what sets Carolina Septic apart, Chris's answer was: "Honest, reliability, Tier 3 certified, we give what we offer." That last part is the one worth sitting with. In a trade with a reputation for surprise change orders and quotes that grow once the machine is on site, delivering the job you sold is a differentiator. It shouldn't be, but it is.

The crew

Small, local, and the same people you'll see on your property. Some of them would rather not be photographed, which we respect, so you'll see more of our work on this site than our faces. The work is the better argument anyway.

Where we work

Aiken, Edgefield and Barnwell counties in South Carolina. Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie and Burke counties in Georgia. North Augusta, Aiken, Augusta, Evans, Martinez, Grovetown and everything between. See the full service area →
